Frequently Asked Questions

How did the calendar come about?
In 2006, the church published a Celebration Calendar highlighting twelve women ages 64 and older. It was an enormous success and quickly sold out. We decided it was time to repeat this initiative and give our men over 64 equal time. The Calendar is one of several activities this church year that celebrate men and focuses on the life stage over age 64.

How does the calendar celebrate older men?
The calendar is a great way to address the worship of the youth culture in our society. It shows everyone that older men have a wonderful sense of humor and whimsy. It lets people know that older men have accomplished much and still have a lot to offer. And it demonstrates to both men and women that men are handsome, vibrant, and engaged with life at all stages of life.

What will the calendar proceeds be used for?
The calendar will help the church meet its rising operating costs such as heating, maintenance, salaries and insurance..

Why did the individual men decide to pose for the calendar?

Reasons include: it would be fun; something I always wanted to do but never had a chance to do; great to celebrate senior men; great for other senior men everywhere to see that their contemporaries are active, engaged, and have a sense of humor; time to respond in a positive way to society’s worship of youth; a sense of humor and thought this would be a whimsical thing to do; knew the photographer, Lynne Damianos, would create a high quality, tastefully designed photo.

Where were the men photographed?
Except for the front and back covers, each man was photographed in his home
.
